I recently read an e-How article I found and they too know soy products are found in over 60% of our food supply. It’s a substitute for animal proteins for vegetarian and vegan diets. Soy also found in many beauty products, vitamin supplements, and candles. That’s why someone like myself with a severe soy allergy must read every label thoroughly. After my extensive research there were questions as to what too much of these products can mean to women’s health issues.
Breast Cancer
Soy has phytoestrogens that is an estrogen-like substance. These substances should be avoided if a woman has an estrogen-dependent breast cancer. Research suggests that eating large amounts of soy products, if you have this type of breast cancer, may be detrimental to your health, according to WomensHealth.gov.

Two years after tainted milk powder killed six infants and left some 300,000 more suffering from kidney stones, China is again roiled by allegations of health hazards in infant formula. This time the repercussions are less deadly but nonetheless disturbing. Three infant girls in the central city of Wuhan and a fourth in Beijing have shown signs of premature development, including growth of breasts, according to state media reports. Tests showed that their hormone levels were abnormally high, which some doctors suspect may be linked to drinking infant formula produced by Synutra International, a Nasdaq-listed infant formula maker based in Qingdao, in coastal northeastern China.
The company has denied the allegations, and on Aug. 9 CEO Liang Zhang said, “We are completely confident that our products are safe and our quality levels are industry-leading.” Synutra has also threatened to take legal action against those who have accused it of selling tainted products.

Here in the United States we have an excess of soy consumption that is causing health problems for babies as well as adults. Unfortunately, all the hype about how good soy is for you, keeps many moms for being aware of the dangers.

Mothers, thorough magazines and advertising have been convinced that soy formula is a good alternative for babies that cannot tolerate milk. Soy for babies is not a healthy alternative because it contains high levels of phytoestrogens that contain growth depressing trypsin inhibitors – which have been know to cause zinc deficiency. Zinc – which is important to the development of the nervous system. In addition, the aluminum content of soy formula is 10x greater than milk and has a toxic effect on the kidneys.
In addition, soymilk is not always easily digestible and can cause cramping, nausea, and more serious health problems such as hypothyroidism. If a child is lactose intolerant a better alternative might be goat milk, almond or rice milk.
Once consumers start reading labels carefully – they will be amazed at the soy content in snack foods, fast foods, and pre-packaged frozen meals. Since it’s often disguised as other ingredients – you have to know what to look for.
Parents choose soy formula because they believe that it is less allergenic than cow’s milk even though soybeans themselves are a major allergen, but highly processed unfermented products loaded with phytates, enzyme inhibitors, rancid fatty acids and altered protein most certainly are not easy to digest.
The claim is that soy is an acceptable substitute for milk in the feeding of babies and young children. The main ingredient of soy-based infant formula is soy protein isolate, so along with the growth-depressing trypsin inhibitors, these formulas have a high phytate content. The use of soy formula has caused zinc deficiency in infants that is important to the development of the nervous system. Aluminum content of soy formula is ten times greater than that of milk-based formula and has a toxic effect on the kidneys of infants.
Soy formulas lack cholesterol, which is essential for the development of the brain and the nervous system. Mothers’ milk has a special enzyme that helps the baby absorb cholesterol. Cholesterol is also very important for the development and the integrity of the intestinal wall. Formulas are made with sucrose rather than lactose and galactose, which are human milk sugars that play an important role in the development of the nervous system.
Soy formulas used to have lactose added, but that was too expensive, so now they just add sucrose. Not surprisingly, animal-feeding studies show a lower weight gain for rats on soy formula than for those on whole milk, high lactose formula.
Some of soy’s hormonal effects may be reversible in adults following restoration of normal estrogen activity, but in newborns, the effects are more likely to be irreversible.
And now I would like you to claim your free chapter of where the soy is hidden and also receive soy-free recipes.
