Dairy consumers, including Organic Consumers Association members, who sued several national chains (Wal-Mart, Costco, Target, and Wil Oats Markets) as well as the largest U.S. provider of store-brand organic milk (Aurora Organic Dairy) claiming they falsely labeled and sold milk from industrial feedlots as “organic” can continue with their lawsuit under a federal appeals court ruling issued Wednesday.
The ruling from the Eighth U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals means a lower court must hear claims that Aurora Organic Dairy’s milk was deceptively marketed as coming from small farms with open pastures.
“Each defendant is alleged to have misrepresented the manner in which the dairy cows were raised and fed in violation of various state deceptive trade practices laws,” the ruling said.

What’s wrong with Genetic Engineering?
Courtesy of Organic Consumers Association
Genetic engineering is a radical technology that breaks down genetic barriers between humans, plants and animals. Once released, these genetically modified organisms (GMOs) can easily spread and interbreed with other organisms, and they are virtually impossible to recall back to the laboratory.
Monsanto provides roughly 90% of GMO seeds in the world. These seeds have been genetically modified to produce their own pesticide or survive repeated spraying of their toxic herbicide Roundup. Monsanto’s GMOs are not designed to increase yields to feed the world, but rather to increase Monsanto’s profits by increasing the use of chemicals such as Roundup and selling their high-priced patented seeds which farmers must buy every year.
Due to the enormous political clout of Monsanto, the American public is being denied the right to know whether their foods are genetically engineered or not. Following is a list of 10 facts about Monsanto and GMOs, and how they can adversely affect your health, local farmers, and the planet.

One great way to lower one’s cholesterol is through a reliable exercise routine. If you want to get really good results, you need to engage in daily exercise. Daily exercise, however, can be difficult for people who juggle a lot of roles in life. Then again, regular exercise is still possible if you have tried and tested tips to get you to fit it in your life.
1. Starting the Routine
It is best to take it slow if you have not exercised in a long time. Succumbing to a very intense schedule is not an advisable thing to do. Ideally, you should exercise five days a week. Usually, people get burned out if they plunge into a strenuous routine at once. One good thing to do is to get in touch with your doctor regarding health problems, as well as the kind of exercise necessary to improve one’s personal condition. It is best to view exercise as something that you really need to do. Always put it in your schedule in the same way you make time for your dentist or your doctor. It also helps to add a mix of varied exercises and activities spread out through your week so you do not get bored of doing the same thing over and over again.
2. What Else Counts?
To vary your exercise regimen, you can even add active daily chore routines to it. Vacuuming, washing the car, cutting and raking leaves and grass are all household chores that count as exercise. Strive to look for many opportunities to perform exercises in various ways. For example, you can take the stairs as opposed to riding the elevator for an exercise routine. This exercise can strengthen your heart and build up your leg muscles. Also, try taking the longer route as you go about life’s many activities. Bust out those running shoes when walking distances instead of riding your car on your way there. Walking is a great way to lower cholesterol levels while losing weight. When you park at the store, make sure you park it further away to rack up some walking distance.
3. Looking for Time
Busy people, on the other hand, have a hard time fitting in 30-60 minutes worth of exercise in their equally busy schedules. What works better is to chunk up your routine into ten to fifteen minute intervals and still get the same results. A lot of studies show that this is a very good way for you to exercise. As you can see, exercise can be fun while it lowers cholesterol and strengthens your heart at the same time. For amazing results, you should combine weight loss, emotional well-being and strengthening.

Many people are concerned they will lose control of their lives by having the government decide what treatments they need. Some have said that they will dictate what they can eat. Well, guess what? They have been dictating for years what foods we can eat by allowing big-agribusiness to cut corners by using cheap fillers, pesticides, herbicides and now, genetically modified (GM) foods.
Our food supply is what is making us sick! If the EPA considers herbicides and insecticides to be carcinogenic, is it any wonder why this may be causing more than 4 million cancer cases?
I believe that reform of our food supply to make it sustainable for all needs to come before there can be any kind of health reform that really works.
The food we eat today is the cause of the epidemic of obesity, chronic heart disease and diabetes.
When Pres. Obama talks about prevention, the only place to start is with the food we eat. Then, we can have a healthcare system that will be cost effective and work for all Americans. Less people will become chronically ill and have to rely on medications that only relieve the symptoms, but does not cure the disease.
Big agri-businesses need to be under the same strict scrutiny that the local organic farmers are subject to in order to have their food certified by the USDA.
